About Me:

I was born and raised just outside of the Boston area. I moved out to Chicago in 2004 and shortly after was inspired to turn my craft and creativity into a business.

About two three years ago I started Just Made It. A business set to build and grow on ideas I have stored over the years. Custom-made invitations, canvas paintings, party ideas, and the latest, personalized name frames.

I named my business Just Made It because most of the time I am "just making" and finishing projects at the last minute....yes I was that student back in college who was pulling off term papers the night before they were due! What can I say I work well under pressure. No really, why I find myself "just making" products is because I live for customization and creating what my customers want.

They will often times see work that I do and say:
"Amanda, I really like that do you think you could do that for me but add this and do that for me?" I love that (most of the time) because I want to give my customers what they want.

To be honest, sometimes I have a hard time making the same piece twice. Ideas are constantly coming into my head.

For example, last year when I participated in my first art fair I thought about what theme I could do that would appeal to all ages. Alphabets came to mind...lots and lots of alphabets. So I made all different variations and they were a hit. I succeeded in my goal of reaching out to all ages too. Grandparents came in with thought of their grandkids. Parents wanted to add to their kid's rooms. Even kids stopped by because they saw letters and colors they recognized. I had a blast.

Getting my website up and running has been nothing short of a turtle pace. With help from family and friends, I am working toward getting my site up but I have learned pretty quick that starting a business costs you money before it makes you money;) Customers are constantly asking me for pictures of my work. A good friend suggested a blog as a cost efficient way to share my work and do business until justmadeit.com is up. Update: I am excited to announce that selected frames of mine are now being sold in homeboy. The store is located at 3327 N Broadway in Chicago, Illinois for you locals. I am so excited because I love what the store sells and represents. Everything in the store is made by various artists throughout Chicago. From pottery to pillows, beautiful upholstered canvases and chairs to note cards, if you are looking for something to add to your home or give as a gift, this is the place. The owner has great taste. The store is not congested so you don’t feel overwhelmed when you walk in. homeboy is a store I would recommend to anyone if they are looking for a one of kind gift. I plan to shop there myself:)

Wells Street Festival: Thanks to everyone who stopped by the Wells Street Art Festival this past weekend! Its always great to meet new customers. I look forward to hearing from you expectant moms who didn’t know what you were having but were planning!:) A special thanks to my family and friends near and far for their support. I couldn’t have done it without them nor my festival neighbors who kept my tent grounded through the wind and storms! I hope you enjoyed my work. Customer Highlight Story: A group of friends stopped by my tent fairly early in the day and were discussing how their friend was about to have a baby. They liked one of my frames but ended up leaving….later on that day they were back as their friend had gone into labor so they bought the frame! Congrats to your friend and I hope she liked the frame you picked out for her!

NEW! Love/Poem Series: I started a new series for this fair that received a great response. I love to write and decided to put some of my poems to print (email or call for more details). I wrote a newborn poem that I was happy I sold. It was written when my first niece was born. Makes for a great gift for expecting parents!

I had a lot of people interested in purchasing these name frames however there are only 5 slots to a frame. I promised customers I would look into finding longer frames. Customers loved the patch work paper look. Most of the time these pieces are one of a kind. Stay tuned!
